upon you records has finally reached the big five-o thats right - 50! regular releases old, and to celebrate we are inviting you into our musical swinger club. while our upon you artists usually work their way up to a musical orgasm on their own, this time they have doubled up for a nice old gangbang of massive proportions. gunnar stiller and marcus meinhardt are tag teaming on a1 with their little winner >feinherb< and are leaving out the foreplay and get straight down to it. then we have nico stojan and the cheapers who are finger banging the buttons and levers for >railroad< on a2. flipping the side over we find our dutch-danish buddies onno and mathias mesteno and let the puppets dance to some sweet house beats with the track >puppets<. finishing of this vinyl masterpiece are marco resmann and ruede hagelstein with >monday<, once again proving how tender they can be if necessary, blowing out the last candles with a touch of saxophone.
juan macleans new side project, peach melba! the constant citation of >chicago house and detroit techno< as influences has very nearly reduced both to empty signifiers. such vague and vacuous overuse ignores the distinct aesthetic and conceptual ideals of the actual music. that tendency to play fast and loose with the defining traits of late 80s and early 90 house and techno is one juan maclean has studiously avoided in his new side project, peach melba. built on tracks he felt were too >house-y< to be included amongst the more song-oriented singles on a proper the juan maclean release, peach melba is macleans vehicle for releasing a stream of upcoming dj friendly 12 inchs. the projects output is decidedly faithful to the blueprint of those aforementioned early productions, emphasizing rolling melodies and big vocal hooks.
achtung, warning, balushi is out with two new techno bombs for the summer. on the a side let me be myself is a deep aquatic adventure with a huge basline chugging along. there are some deep dark underwater effects and vocal snippets which develop into a deep stabby groove that hypnotizes anyone listening to the track. there is then a break with a beautiful vocal derived from the snippets that refreshes the listener and takes them into another dimension before bringing them back into the heavy hipnotic groove. on the aa side we have the path one hell of a tecno crossover designed to electrify and rock summer crowds all globally...with a funky meaty bassline that rolls on and perfectly complements both rasta vocals and crazy electronic synths and squelches the path is a fat groove to look out for on the hottest dancefloors...
the boston based alternative rock band buffalo tom formed in 1986. the band around singer/ guitarist bill janovitz became one of the more popular alternative rock bands by the mid 1990s. the 1992 album let me come over was truly the great leap forward for the band, sounding richer, more imaginative, and more emotionally powerful than anything they d recorded before.
weird yet very funky & playable chicago inspired house/acid tracks by detroit s jared wilson. jacking rhythms, nasty 303 basslines and whispering voices creating this nice old-fashioned sexual energy... just how we like it. conforce on remix duties delivers a deep & moody techy house rework, perfect for the early morning hours. bomb!
benoit & sergio dont make dance tracks—they tell stories. in the washington dc duos music, a sense of place and narrative infuse their rhythms and melodies, transcending having flexed their synth-pop muscles on releases for dfa (the acclaimed boy trouble ep) and visionquest (the lovelorn where the freaks have no name ep), dc duo benoit & sergio return to spectral sound for a victory lap around the dancefloor. and >let me count the ways< is just that, sounding every bit the perfect, hands-in-the-air final anthem of the evening. tireless hi-hats push the beat onward and dreamy synthesized strings saturate the stereo space as sergio intones, >let me count the ways / the ways that ive loved.< as the line repeats, its meaning bends to fit the songs tone of endless, time-suspended romance: its not the loves that matter in the end, but the ways. its not the destination, but the journey. the b-sides >let me count the ways (autumn version)<is a vastly different take on the original?s maximalist swell. stripping the beat back to its bare essentials and building them up again over nearly 12 minutes, the >autumn version< recalls arthur russell?s more minimal moments down to its wobbly bass filigree and mumbled vocal samples. by the end of the track, the claps are falling on the twos and fours like crinkly foliage, synths are sizzling like firewood, and benoit & sergio?s newest banger is revealed in its full glory once again.
it seems that dapayk used to listen to a lot of hip-hop when he was younger. his latest ep for still vor talent >let go< has got these influences written all over it. the title track starts out with a male vocal and some sounds that sound a little like scratching before things then quickly head into the direction of the club. the vocal by singer camara could not be more reminiscent of 80s house music and this track has got all the soul and groove of this era. beneath the delicate vocal and sound patterns lies a wonderfully simply staccato house groove that is sure to get everyone shuffling. on the flip things get a little more techy with >nneka<, a deeper and more melodic tech house glider that gently takes the listener towards a harmonic state of mind. beautifully arpeggiated pads, a warm soulful groove and some reverbed vocals make this one. last up is the sample-based tech-house stomper >upyo< featuring production partner jon hester. this is loop heaven: a pushy beat loop with many snares, reverse samples and an unexpected saxophone melody make this one the perfect changeover track from warm-up to peak-time. this ep shows dapayks skills to combine many musical influences into his unique still of tech-house music
the movement continues... we are excited to welcome a new member to the seasons family and hot off his #1 single early this month on foliage records. yass has come with a massive project. joined along side yass is tony loreto and the almighty arnold jarvis on vocals for a project titled >let go< on the seasons limited imprint. we are huge fans of mr. jarvis and the partnership with yass & tony loreto is an instant classic! we wil let the music speak for its self...
for this project the barking dogs rework two tracks by jessie evans, adding their producing skills to her post-punk sax and vocals lines and giving us two old school burning, sweaty killers. the pack is complete with remixes from a couple of hot names on the scene. altz with his enormous, mad remix (something really unique, we where stunned when we first listened to this one) and the deep acid version from rune lindbaek & mental overdrive.
support from: prins thomas, todd terje, jd twitch (optimo), trevor jackson, severino (horse meat disco), sam proper, italoboyz and many more ...

support by: magda, adam beyer, troy pierce, konrad black, ellen allien, damien lazarus, camea, alexi delano, tim xavier, joell mull, someone else, dilo, ambivalent, dustin zahn,.. british tech-house master mark henning is back on clink with an exciting collection of deep and funky tracks, perfect for spring and summer. this new series of artful techhouse encompasses our love for immersive and psychedelic music, and stays true to the fast developing sound of our imprint. the ep kicks off with the title track >supersonic< and presents all of the right elements that we love in trippy tunes: aquatic bass, transparent atmospherics, and an orbiting vocal to boot
sam sallon is a hugely talented singer songwriter, whos acoustic-led folk-pop brings to mind legendary uk artists such as nick drake & john martyn, as well as more contemporary artists such as devendra banhart, iron & wine, vetiver, etc. two of the uks finest producers have taken samÆs beautiful, delicate original song and taken it into new territory. leo elstob a.k.a. leo zero transforms samÆs acoustic original into a chugging, footstomping, sing-a-long balearic end-of-night-anthem. think the beatles baby you re a rich man meets the aliens robot man, with a subtle hint of (and donÆt let this put you off) wonderwall! begin is the new recording alias of back ii basics & bugged out resident, chemical brothers tour dj, apprentice fishmonger, and officially funniest man in europe without his own stand-up dvd to sell, james holroyd. james applies that subtle, euphoric begin sound to the mix, which is destined to be the soundtrack to all your sunsets this summer. this is sure to be one of the records of the year
supplement facts records takes us to that detroit sound, with their next release featuring sierra sam & marcus vector… the auteurs of industrial techno. the man made jobs e.p. is an eager little package of tracks with a nod to the past, but with its sight set straight to the future. the opener >gangsta pimp style< echoes technos birth-city, driving beats and metallic stabs of synths merging with the spoken word rhetoric, intermittently making itself known throughout the pieces sprawling 7-minute runtime. >things you do< moves things to a bit lighter frame, but dont let that description lull you into thinking it as throwaway. this tracks dominates with the ever-present high stringnote that made so many hits in the past. this classic sensibility and a vocal hook which you will be humming for days later…make this track memorable. taking us straight to the 90s, >flagboy< is the final track to round up this powerhouse of a release. featuring vocals from rockey wahington, this track encompasses the likeability & flavor needed for a classic house record unlikely to leave your bag. its all there - the piano stabs, the cowbells, the soulful vocal. all these elements mixing together to create a track so euphoric that you can finally delete your >pusher-man< contact from your blackberry because this is the newest legal high!
the new label by kreon & lemos & tonny lasar incl. kreon remix ... a new label based in athens is born. first release is from greek producer named thodoris triantafillou who started the journey with a rather jazzy feeling on the a side. on the b2 side club mix takes it in a little bit more club friendly vibe. to conclude in b1 kreon gives us his special interpetation. enjoy.
the loop:
this nice, funky, underground and late night beat eddie put down represents his origins of funky detroit house fillers … also, columbia style vox sample is a killer on the floor for the best djs with skills ...
let my nuts hang:
eddie fowlkes should change his last name to funky … the whole track is letting his nuts hang for 24 years of putting out release! the groove is out cold, plus what eddie is saying in the track is really true!
remixes by darius & finlay / steve h. / andrew spencer !! after the big hits >the black pearl, god is a dj and hes a pirate< scotty strikes back with the next amazing hit. together with the u.s. singer >tesz millan< and mixes by darius & finlay and many more the hit rocket starts again
one of the uk leading purveyors of funky, underground and cutting-edge house, burnski steps up to bat once again with >me and you< - his latest 12 inch for dessous. after recent outings under steve bugs poker flat imprint, as well as an amazing remix of gamal kabars >4 lally< on the new poker flat digital platform, our man continues his story with 2 up-front originals house cuts dripping with class.
trickling, throbbing and swirling around an excitable voodoo house percussion track, the haunting vocal snippets and midnight synth hooks of >me and you< combine and build to a veritable crescendo. understated, cool and collected, its a mature track that finds its roots firmly in the tech-tribal house patch, yet reaches out in the beyond with freaky, funky vibes throughout!
>the light< kicks off with a suitably burnsksi-esque groove, slowly unfolding into a jacking, bouncy and fresh classic houser. airy, playful and glistening with the morning sun of a new day, the track doesnt let go of the night however and makes for a real late-doors burner. no-nonsense quality house music for those who know.
second release on the bounce by helixir on 7even recordings after his last digital dubby experience >xp dub / peace dub< in june! recognized as one of the most versatile of the new breed of french electronic music producers, the man from strasbourg is back this time with two bass-heavy productions in his own percussive style.
>convultions< is a real dancefloor weapon, the robotic riddim subtly brings a deep sub-bass becoming more and more insistent, the beats never stop evolving along the journey, the breaks hit your senses, pure badness from this ultra precise producer!
>let me drive now< brings you to a beautifully produced track through magical percussion, galactic synths and smoky atmospheres, somewhat akin to 2562s latest directions. a beautiful piece of music, tightly produced by helixir, who shows again his mastery of the studio and modern bass music.
once again jay denes and lisa shaw come together to make a slice of vocaly and emotionly motivated music that pulls from classic r&b (i.e. gladas night and marvin gaye, not destinys child) as much as modern deep house. the moustached boy wonder comes in as the petalpusher and gives us his tough beats, pretty basslines and memorable melodies that make for a classic miguel migs mix. the besoul mix is all bassline, the kind that makes you immediately start bobbing ya head like a chicken and wanna start dancing all sexy on the closest person available. what can you say, naked music makes soul music for the year 2002, futuristic funk for the lovers.
incl. rmxs by anonym & damian schwartz!the fourth single from the young new label founded by d’julz, bass culture brings the noise. >let the music play< featuring the talents of zoe xenia, of amsterdam
